Hello! It’s another week and another TBR post for you all!
This week is the contemporary-a-thon by ChelseaDollings Reads on YouTube. Channel link here: Chelsea Dollings Reads
I only really plan on reading a couple books for that readathon so I hope I get the chance to read them! I’m excited to read them!
Here are what I plan on reading this week!
So I am currently listening to the audiobook of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alike Sanz. It’s narrated by Lin Manuel Miranda and its really good so far! He’s narrating it really well! It’s only like 7 hours so I think I’ll be done with it in a few hours, since I’m listening to it at 1.65x speed. But I’m glad I’m finally listening to it since I really wanted to get to it because I’ve heard so many great things about it! I’ll update you about it all when I finish it!
Summary: Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship—the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be.
I also want to get to my Audiobook of Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I am finally getting to it! I’ve been scared to get into it because I want to read it so badly but it’s been so hyped that I’m worried I won’t like it! I got the audiobook out from the library so I’m planning on starting it on the way up to class and work. I hope the audiobook is as good as I’ve heard!
Summary: Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he’ll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist:
Break into the notorious Ice Court
(a military stronghold that has never been breached)
Retrieve a hostage
(who could unleash magical havoc on the world)
Survive long enough to collect his reward
(and spend it)
Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done – and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.
The first book in the contemporary-a-thon I plan on reading is Attachments by Rainbow Rowell which is both a book that is hyped, and also a contemporary book that is recommended to you. I am SO excited to read this because it sounds so good and I have heard amazing things about it!
Summary: “Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you…”
Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It’s company policy.) But they can’t quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.
Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill can’t believe this is his job now- reading other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be “internet security officer,” he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.
When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can’t help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.
By the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself.
What would he say . . . ?
And another book Sleepless in Manhattan by Sarah Morgan. This counts as Read a contemporary book with pink on the cover. My cover doesn’t have this much pink but there is some on there. And this is also the most recent contemporary book I bought.
Summary: Cool, calm and competent, events planner Paige Walker loves a challenge. After a childhood spent in and out of hospitals, she’s now determined to prove herself—and where better to take the world by storm than in the exhilarating bustle of Manhattan? But when Paige is let go from the job she loves, she must face her biggest challenge of all—going it alone.
Except launching her own events company is nothing compared to hiding her outrageous crush on Jake Romano—her brother’s best friend, New York’s most in-demand date, and the only man to break her heart. When Jake offers Paige’s fledgling company a big chance, their still-sizzling chemistry starts giving her sleepless nights. But can she convince the man who trusts no one to take a chance on forever?
And this is the book for the prompt to read a diverse contemporary book. It’s a M/M romance and I’m excited to read it! It sounds so good! Plus this cover is so sexy!
Summary: Jamie Canning has never been able to figure out how he lost his closest friend. Four years ago, his tattooed, wise-cracking, rule-breaking roommate cut him off without an explanation. So what if things got a little weird on the last night of hockey camp the summer they were eighteen? It was just a little drunken foolishness. Nobody died.
Ryan Wesley’s biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he’ll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.
Jamie has waited a long time for answers, but walks away with only more questions—can one night of sex ruin a friendship? If not, how about six more weeks of it? When Wesley turns up to coach alongside Jamie for one more hot summer at camp, Jamie has a few things to discover about his old friend… and a big one to learn about himself.
And if I have time to read some more, I want to read King by T M Frazier as my dark or taboo contemporary. I have been wanting to get into this book for a while so I think this book is finally going to be read!
Summary: Homeless. Hungry. Desperate.
Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.
A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three.
King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.
And those are the many book I plan on reading this week! It’s a lot and ambitious and I hope I get to read them!
Wish me luck! I want to read them all but again might not happen with work and school!
What do you plan on reading this week? I’d love to know! And let me know your thoughts on the books I hope to get to! Which should I start first?!
