Summary: When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days—as he has done before—and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home.

But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine’s disappearance than his wife realizes. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were to be published, it would ruin lives—meaning that there are a lot of people who might want him silenced.

When Quine is found brutally murdered under bizarre circumstances, it becomes a race against time to understand the motivation of a ruthless killer, a killer unlike any Strike has encountered before…

I was so happy to be back in this world with Cormoran and Robin! Of course Cormoran is just this awesome character with a lot of wit and everything you could want in a main character.

I just found myself sucked into this novel and the world and all they had to offer us. Once I started I couldn’t stop and I wanted to always be listening to the audiobook because I wanted to know who did the crime and I got drawn into the investigation.

The dynamic between Cormoran and Robin is just so great! I love it and I like that while Cormoran knows that Robin is beautiful and yet he and Robin are still able to be friendly and professional and have a good relationship. I really like reading about their relationship. And man Robin’s relationship with her fiancé Matthew is like killing me. I just wanted them to be together in the first book but since they’re always arguing with each other doing this and I now hate them together. Plus Michael is just a douche bag! I do not like him anymore.

I honestly don’t like Michael but it always seems like Robin likes him and loves him so I just go along with her wishes and wants.

But of course I want her with Cormoran because who wouldn’t?! I adore him so much as a character! My wish at the end of this series is that they get together because it’s obvious they like each other but the other doesn’t want to act on it. They have a good friendship relationship but at the same time I just want them together. But I respect the friendship they have and how they’re able to be working together and not let feelings get in the way.

Anyways, I highly suggest you all check this book out! I am obsessed! Honestly! I found out they had created a TV show for this book and I died! I looked it up and I’m hooked! Tom Burke is an amazing Cormoran and Holliday is stunning as Robin! Girl crushing hard on her! I die! I binged what I could find on youtube but it’s hard because they only have a few amounts of the show on there, but it’s coming to the US in June! Stayed tuned for that! I’m counting down the days! I’m doing my best to find a legal way to watch the episodes since I need them so badly!

And that is my review on this book! I hope you enjoyed it and it convinces you to start the series because you won’t regret it! I swear to you you won’t! It’s amazing! Let me know your thoughts as I would love to know!
