Summary: Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he’ll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist:
Break into the notorious Ice Court
(a military stronghold that has never been breached)
Retrieve a hostage
(who could unleash magical havoc on the world)
Survive long enough to collect his reward
(and spend it)
Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done – and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.
So I’m really sad that I haven’t read this before now. Like really sad. Because it was so good!!! Like really good!!
I loved it!
I haven’t read a Leigh Bardugo book yet and it makes me sad that I haven’t, so I am for sure going to dive into her work as soon as I can!
I wonder really what and who the Grisha Trilogy follows if this duology follows these six characters! I have heard many different things about the trilogy and what it follows but I guess I will have to try it out myself and just read it.
It was just like so good! I could not believe how much I adored this book! I got so into the book and the characters; and the plot line! I would like talk out loud and then I would get like angry when the characters were being dumb in my opinion and then I would freak out during an intense scene and such! That’s part of why I love listening to audiobooks, I tend to get more animated and such. I do at times when reading a physical book but I do it more with audiobooks. It helps me get through my stress and such while reading!
I think I just liked that this was such an adventure and it really took you along with them. I really just dove into this world and I don’t even know but I felt that this book was like…coming to life. It’s great when a book really gets to you and sucks you into it’s world and it really just brings you on this great adventure with it’s characters.
I don’t think that I’ve ever read a book about a heist like this, and from beginning to end it’s super fast paced.
If you haven’t read this book I suggest listening to the audiobook. The many characters have different voices, and they’re all very distinct and different from each other. And I think it added to my experience reading it. My favorite voice has to be Kaz. His voice was so deep and just sexy…I swear it was. I got chills the first time I heard it and not in a bad way!
He should read everything to me all the time!
Inej was also a favorite character for me. Her and Kaz= OTP
But also because Inej was such a unique character. She was the wraith! I just loved her character and how she was a trapeze artist and how well she used that for her advantage. And how deadly she was. I adored that. I have a girl crush on her I think! She’s amazing!
Nina was just annoying to me most of the book but I loved the book so much I was able to overlook her. And also with Matthias. He’s also a bit annoying but I like reading about him because he’s so complicated. His and Nina’s story were the most interesting to me because they were so complicated and had so much history. I wonder if she’s in the Grisha Trilogy because from what I read about her history I think she might be. I guess I’ll know when I read it???
Also Wylan was adorable, but also annoying at times as well. But he got better and I ended up really adoring him.
Jesper was again great too and his character was cool. I do like what he brought to the table and this group!
I cannot wait to start Crooked Kingdom. It will be just as amazing as this one, maybe even better. I just think these characters are so diverse and unique and I haven’t read about anybody like them! And wow! I just want them to be happy and everything.
Overall if you’re looking for a great story with amazing characters, fantastic world building, great writing, and a fast paced read; you’ll be obsessed with this book! I highly recommend reading this! It is so worth the hype!
Let me know your thoughts and if you’ve read this book! I would really love to know! Let’s fangirl/boy about it!
