The Rogue Queen by Emily R King
Published: February 13, 2018
Summary: Despite the odds, Kalinda has survived it all: Marriage to a tyrant. Tournaments to the death. The forbidden power to rule fire. The icy touch of a demon.
That same demon now disguises itself as Rajah Tarek, Kalinda’s late husband and a man who has never stopped haunting her. Upon taking control of the palace and the army, the demon brands Kalinda and her companions as traitors to the empire. They flee across the sea, seeking haven in the Southern Isles.
In Lestari, Kalinda’s powers are not condemned, as they are in her land. Now free to use them to protect those she loves, Kalinda soon realizes that the demon has tainted her with a cold poison, rendering her fire uncontrollable. But the lack of control may be just what she needs to send the demon back to the darkest depths of the Void.
To take back the empire, Kalinda will ally with those she distrusts—and risk losing those most loyal to her—to defeat the demon and bring peace to a divided nation.
I honestly think that this book is my favorite book in this series. It was so action packed and left me shook! I just can’t wait until the last book comes out! It’s going to be amazing!
Especially since it’ll be picking up where this ended and wow I can’t wait to see where it goes. I just want to cry!
It broke my heart!!!!!
Literally cried a minute after it ended because wow I was shook!
I was in the parking lot at work and I was off and about to leave for work; but couldn’t leave until I finished the book! It was just so amazing! I highly recommend that you check this series out because you honestly won’t regret it! It is so great!
There’s so much beautiful culture; amazing, fast paced action; and a beautiful romance!
Kalinda was a great character, and she’s so strong! It killed me when she and Ashwin would get so close and I was like no!! Don’t do it! But other than that she was just adorable. I loved reading about her strength and how she was so willing to fight and do whatever was best for her kingdom. It was so sad reading about her heartbreak with Jaya and everything she’s had to deal with. I was sad that she had to put herself through so much during this long tale.
I just wanted her to get the chance to rest for a bit.
Because she sure needs it.
And when the twist happened with her and Ashwin and everything was revealed, I almost flipped out! My jaw freaking dropped! It was something I never saw coming! And I had read the second book and this didn’t even occur to me!
And Deven was a sweetheart. I love him so much.
He’s so loyal, so respectful, and honestly he’s the type of guy a lot of people don’t write about in stories.
He loved Kali and he is ready to step back and let her decide for herself what she wants and what she needs. I just like that he’s willing to put her needs first, and give her the chance to decide what she wants and needs. He’s unwilling to make her choose who she wants, no matter how much it hurts him.
He’s the love of my life.
And I really enjoyed the characters that were introduced, and were expanded in this book. Pons and Indah were my favorites. Indah loyal to Kali and Pons, and Pons loyal to her. And just everyone else was so interesting, and well rounded. I liked them a lot and I thought it was great that we saw more people and more about them.
Overall this series is amazing, and I’m so not ready for it to be over in the last book. The characters are great, the plot is interesting and fast paced, and the world is amazing and well thought out. I really do recommend this series, I honestly think that you’ll love it like I have!
Let me know below your thoughts and if you’ve read this series before as I would really like to know!
