TBR Jar: Top 12 Books That Have Been on My TBR the Longest

Hey everyone! I decided after watching April’s video on Youtube, her channel name is ApriliusMaximus, that I am going to try her idea!

So her idea was to look at her shelves and find the 12 books that have been on her shelves the longest and read them! I liked that idea so I checked my shelves out and I found some that would work for this idea! So each month I have to read at least one of these books to hopefully complete this challenge!

So I’ll show you them now!

  1. Fire Study by Marie V Snyder
  2. The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley
  3. Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
  4. Gathering Darkness by Morgan Rhodes
  5. The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
  6. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
  7. Article 5 by Kristen Simmons
  8. Tiger’s Quest by Colleen Houck
  9. The Tenderness of Thieves by Donna Freitas
  10. Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven
  11. The Winter People by Rebekah L Purdy
  12. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

And those are the 12 books that I believe are the oldest on my TBR! And they are the ones I plan on reading this year as well! I have a few other challenges so I might double up on these with books for other challenges.

And yeah those are the books I am planning on reading for this challenge! What are the oldest books on your TBR?

Hey everyone!

I’m a horrible person I am so sorry about this! I am sorry I haven’t posted in a while! I’ve been spending time with my family for the holidays and also working extra to pay off some things I need! But I am glad I have a few days off now to relax and read some more!!

But yeh! I am here to again talk about what I have read and what I plan on reading the rest of this week!

I haven’t read a lot this week because of work and family time but I did read a two books and I’m happy to talk about them!

So I read The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer, and We Are the Ants by Shawn David Hutchinson! They were both really really good and I enjoyed them both so much! Reading The Chemist reminded me of how much I loved Stephanie’s writing, and I couldn’t help but get sucked in once again! And We Are the Ants was just amazing! SO amazing! I loved it and feel like a lot of people need to read it! But trigger warning for sexual assault.

And I am still currently reading a couple of books that I will talk about here!

So I am almost done with A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer! I plan on finishing that tomorrow! And then I am also reading The Duke I Once Knew, and I also plan on reading this book asap! It’s good so far so I hope I continue to enjoy it! And then I started a new audiobook and that is Blood of a Thousand Stars so I can’t wait to see how this goes!

And I’m not really planning on reading anything else this weekend besides finishing these books! I plan on starting my new year on a new book!

What are you currently reading?? I’d love to know!

But hopefully now that things have kinda died down a bit I’ll be able to write more posts for you all!

Anyways I am here with a Currently Reading Update for you all!

So I finished The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee! It was so good!! I loved it!!! And then I DNF’ed Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys because it was getting painful and really sad, and I wasn’t in a place to be that sad and such.

And those are the two books I read so far.

I am still currently reading A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer but it’s getting really good! I plan on making time to read it! I wanna be done with it by this weekend! And I am also listening to the audiobook of The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer. I’m confused but so far it’s interesting!

Someone Like You Cover Reveal

Today we have the cover reveal for Alexandra Silva’s Someone Like You! Check it out and pre-order your copy today!!

Title: Someone Like You

Author: Alexandra Silva

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: January 31st

About Someone Like You:

Dorian Anson is my friend. She’s the only person who’s ever questioned my smiles. My jokes. The one liners that have our friends shaking their heads at me.
I’ve lived my life on those smiles. They never failed me, until her.

I wasn’t counting on her when I designed my front. I never imagined the possibility of someone like her coming into my life.

The wild hair, the kind smile and those eyes that see everything.

She was the girl with the beautiful soul, pretty face and whole heart. But hearts aren’t made to stay whole.

I watched hers break. I watched her tears fall. I watched as her world tilted on its axis and shattered at her feet.

This girl.

She sees me, all parts of me—the truths I try to hide, the secrets I bury. What’s mine and what’s not.

She sees it all, and I can only hope the truth isn’t too much. That she won’t walk away.

That she won’t leave me…alone.

We both have a past. We have ghosts. We have fears.

I’m hoping that somehow in the end, we’ll have each other too.

I’ve never needed anyone before her, and I know I’ll never want anyone else after her.

There is no one like her.

My pretty girl.

Dorian.

Exclusive Excerpt:

“I believe I kissed you thoroughly.”

“You did. I should’ve raised the ante.” She chuckled as she reached down and picked the bag up from where it’d fallen onto the chair.

She handed it over to me with a smirk. Her lips pursing like she was trying not to laugh.

I kept my eyes on her as I opened it and then I looked in, “lube? You got me lube?”

She burst out laughing. Her eyes actually watered. “You were complaining about how your dick was getting friction burn from your hand, so…”

“So…you got me lube?”

She took the bottle from my hand and inspected it before she said in a soft and sultry tone, “it’s not just any lube. It lasts longer, making a little go a looooong way. Oh, and apparently it tingles all the right places.”

“You got me tingly, long-lasting lube. Just what every guy wants for his birthday.”

“I got you something else too.” She reached into her bag and took out a small cardboard box with a little blue bow stuck on top.

“Oh wow, is this a cock ring to go with the lube?” I asked teasingly as I took the box from her. “You shouldn’t have.”

“Shut up and open it, Becca was right, you’re testy.”

“Stop calling her Becca, she’s not your friend. She’s my assistant.”

“Just open the damn box before I really do take that one back.” She poked my shoulder.

After the lube, what else could she possibly get to top it?

Weekly Reads TBR & Wrap Up

Hey everyone!

It’s my last week at school so I have finals today and tomorrow so honestly I won’t have much time today and tomorrow to read except for audiobooks so I think that is what is going to happen.

But I have plans for the rest of the week! I’m so excited! I’m so ready to have a break and read like the wind!

So here they are!

So last week I read 4 books! I read The Thief, An Enchantment of Ravens, With this Heart, and Love and Other Words! I enjoyed them and the highest rating I gave was 5/5 with Love and Other Words. It’s now one of my favorite books of all time! So so amazing! I highly recommend checking it out! You’ll love it I promise!

And here are the books I am currently reading:

I am still reading A Curse so Dark and Lonely and it’s not that I haven’t enjoyed it, I just haven’t had the time to sit down and physically read a book sadly. But once my last final is done I’ll be able to do that and I’ll read like the wind! I also just started the audiobook of The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and it’s good so far! I’m only like 2 chapters in so I’m excited to see where it goes!

and then the books I want to start reading are:

After, Reign the Earth, and Romanov. I’m not sure what else I will be reading once I’m done with one book or another but these are what I want hope to get to! I’m kinda keeping my options open so yeah!

What are you reading this weekend??

Wish me luck with finals! I hope to get back into the groove of things Wednesday!

Currently Reading

Hello everyone!!

I’m sorry I haven’t been on in a few days. I’ve been preparing for finals that are next week! I have two projects to work on, and a test final, and another final that next week so I’ve been working on those and all. I haven’t really read much this week sadly but I know next week once I am off school for the break I will be reading so much more!

I did get the chance to read some books and I’m currently in the middle of some books! So I’m here to talk to you about those!

And yeah so here is what I read this week so far:

So I read The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner which I mentioned before that I had finished! And I gave it a 3/5 stars, I liked it a lot and I’m going to continue with the series but yeah it didn’t blow me away.

715uPy6tUpL

And then I read An Enchantment of Ravens, and I honestly was a bit disappointed. I mean I liked it a lot but I wasn’t blown away, and I didn’t really care for it that much. I think because it felt too much like ACOTAR and if I wanted to read stuff eerily similar to that I would have reread ACOTAR. I mean I liked the romance and such, and I thought the action and the world was interesting. But I mean the story just felt so much like ACOTAR that I couldn’t overlook it and get too into the story. I ended up giving it a 3/5 and I think I’m going to be giving it away on my depop shop.

an-enchantment-of-ravens-9781481497589_hr

And lastly I finished With This Heart which is by R S Grey! I was buddy reading this with my friend Ro and I cannot wait to see what else we will be reading! We have been loving her books and I’m honestly sad to eventually hit the end of her books that are currently out because they’re so good!!

d3c68f1a86d9d513a43d21ee9a27aa9e.jpg

And yeah,

here is what I am reading right now:

I am currently like almost 100 pages into A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kimmerer, which is a beauty and the beast retelling! Its really good so far so I’m excited to see where it goes!!

a-curse-so-dark-and-lonely-brigid-kemmerer

And I also got like 50 pages into After by Anna Todd. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while and since the movie is coming out I kind of want to check it out and see what it is like! I am interested to see where I fall on the spectrum!

after-9781476792484_hr

And I started the audiobook of Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren and wow so far it’s really good! I love it so far and I’m so ready to see what this book has in store for me!

81Csb1x-vSL

And I don’t really have plans for more reading during the weekend. I just want to finish the three books I am currently reading and that’s about it. I’m also working this weekend on top of doing finals stuff so yeah. Just want to finish what I am currently on and that be it for the weekend.

What are your plans for the weekend?? Anything good you are reading??

The Cruel Prince

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

Published: January 2nd, 2018

Rating: 4-stars

Summary: Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

So I’ve loved Holly Black’s work for a couple years and while I’ve read only a few of her novels, they’re really good and I enjoy them! And this book was up my alley from the start because it was about faeries! I love anything to do with faeries and magic! I enjoyed June, but it was obvious you weren’t supposed to like anybody!

And I didn’t!

I mean the only person I thought was likable was Oak! Lol!

But I did like Jude and Carden, even though he was pretty cruel and mean to Jude and her sister. Speaking of her sister Taryn, she was sneaky. I didn’t like her much but I could admit she was an interesting character and pretty sneaky. Honestly though I think that’s what made Taryn so interesting as a character. She definitely has me interested in her now. Seeing her in book two was interesting, and I cannot wait to see what she has up her sleeve in book three. That is what has me most interested!

He really added a much more interesting depth to his personality, but that also doesn’t mean I have to like his attitude. I think the person thought that I hated the most was Locke and Nicasia. Nacasia because she was just plain cruel to Jude and everyone else around her. But I hated that Locke strung Jude and her sister along and played with their relationship and emotions. He really enjoyed seeing them fight and argue over him, I think he got off on it, and I didn’t like that about him. It was also kinda sad that even though he did that to them, Taryn was willing to forgive him for it. She was so willing to forgive him and be accepted into this world that she double crossed her sister for it.

I think another interesting part in this novel is the relationship between Jude and Carden and how that develops over time. It’s not romantic, but it’s obvious that Carden has a shift in thew ay he sees Jude as a person. I thought that was the most interesting shift in this story. I think another part of the story that I enjoyed was the unique world of faerie. While there were High Courts and such they didn’t feel repetitive, and they weren’t something you saw in other novels as well. Like Nicasia is from the Undersea and that is a totally different world I haven’t seen before!

Also going back to Jude anther relationships with other people; I loved seeing Jude and her older sister Vivienne’s relationship grow; along side Jude and Taryn’s relationship fall apart. I thought it was nice thought that Jude had someone to go to with all that was happening to her in Faerie.

But overall I really enjoyed this novel! It was intense and full of secrets and interesting and I felt like I was always on edge trying to figure everything out and be surprised about everything! But I loved that and if you are really into fantasy novels, you’ll really love this novel and the word! Holly crafts beautiful novels and I highly recommend you check out her work!

And those are my reading plans for this week! I lowered them so I make myself feel better about reaching them! Lol!

What are you reading this week?? I’d love to know!

EXCERPT

He teed up Aeron’s number and texted: Just a head’s up. I’ve got my girl. She’s well thanks to me. Hades would have let her get jacked. You’re welcome.

Aeron’s response came in minutes: H told me you saved her. For that, you do have my thanks. But you’re going to have internal body bling if you don’t return her to me ASAP.

Galen: Give me a minute to find the fucks I give…

Galen: Still searching…

Galen: Sorry. Can’t find a single one.

Aeron: I love her, and I want what’s best for her, even if I must pay for her happiness w/ my life. Can you say the same?

Galen responded with a gif he’d made for situations like this. In it, he made a lewd hand gesture while the words “Look what I gave your mother last night” flashed in the center.

Then he typed: Listen, Dr. Usuc Atfilosofee. I didn’t see you braving H’s wards to help L escape that bloodthirsty army. (Drop mic.) (Pick mic back up.) She’s safe, ok. And I CAN say the same. I DID protect her with my life. So be a good daddy and let your daughter spread my wings. Over and out, mo-fo.

He returned the cell phone to the nightstand.

Legion gave a violent shake of her head and released another choking sound. “No. Please, no.”

He could imagine what images plagued her nightmares.

Uncaring about the flare of pain, he leaped off the bed to crouch in front of her chair. He lightly caressed her jaw, then lifted her hand to his face, holding her palm against his cheek. “I’m here, sugar.” His raw throat turned the words to smoke.

A few months ago, Galen had made a deal with Hades. Every time Galen completed a task for the underworld’s top dog, he earned a reward. All he’d wanted? The demons who’d hurt Legion. He’d tortured and killed every one of the bastards but Lucifer.

“No. Please, no. Don’t!” Eyes rolling behind her lids, Legion panted and groaned. Every few seconds, her fingers twitched, as if she tried to deflect a blow. “No!”

He ground his teeth. One day, one day soon, this beauty would rest in the comfort and security of his arms. Fear would lose its hold on her, and contentment would become her constant companion. I’ll make sure of it.

“I won’t let anything happen to you,” he vowed. “Not now, not ever.”

She melted into the chair, a soft sigh leaving her. Pride suffused him. For once, he’d comforted rather than frightened her.
