O.W.L.S Magical Readathon TBR

Hey everyone! I’m here to talk about my Owl’s Magical Readathon TBR! It’s hosted by The Book Roast on YouTube. Here is her link for the video: Readathon Announcement

The link has the video and she explains everything on there, and they also have the links for the documents that will give you all the information about it. The readathon goes on for the whole month of April! And it has a sequel in the summer I believe and it’s the N.E.W.T.S and you have to pass your O.W.L.S to do your N.E.W.T.S just an FYI!

I decided that I am going to be going down the Hogwarts Librarian career path! So to continue the career path I have to pass 65O.W.L.S so I’ll list them below and then I’ll let you know what other books I want to read for the other subjects. I want to read a book for each subject so that’s twelve books I believe! I’m excited!

So the subjects I need to pass with the books I am hoping to read for them are:

Ancient Ruins: Read a retelling: Spinning Silver by Naomi Novak

Arithmancy: A work written by more than one author: Roomies by Christina Lauren

Defense Against the Dark Arts: Reducto or A title that starts with the letter “R”: Renegades by Marissa Meyer

History of Magic: A book published at least 10 years ago: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

And lastly Transfiguration: A book with sprayed edges or a red cover: Circle of Shadows by Evelyn Skye

Those are the books I need to read to pass my O.W.L.S and then here are the other books I want to read to pass the other subjects:

Astronomy: A book with the word “star” in the title: Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray

Care of Magical Creatures: A book with a land animal on the cover: White Stag by Kara Barbieri

Charms: Age-line: Read an adult book: The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski

Divination: Set in the future: Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston

Herbology: Plant on the cover: Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore

Muggle Studies: Contemporary: Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills

Potions: Next ingredient: Sequel: Lady Smoke by Laura Sebastian

And yeah that’s my O.W.L.S TBR! I’m super excited!

Are you participating? Let me know! I hope you join in!

Downfall Blog Tour

From New York Times bestselling author Jay Crownover comes DOWNFALL, a sexy, standalone contemporary romance! Check out all the stops on the tour, and grab your copy today, or read in Amazon KU!

About DOWNFALL:

Solomon Sanders doesn’t have time to fall in love. Until a stunning, skittish, single mother forces him to pause and recognize just how empty and hollow his busy life has become.

From the start, it’s been ingrained in Solo’s DNA to fight.

Fight for what he believes is right.

Fight for the people he loves.

Fight for the traces of good in a place which tends to be filled with a variety of bad.

Fight for survival, so at some point, his life will quiet down and find a normal pace.

He wasn’t ready for the impact his secretive, shy, obviously out of place new neighbor was going to have on him. And never in a million years was he prepared to fall head over heels for her and her young daughter.

Now, he’s facing the most important, and the hardest fight he’s ever fought… the battle to win Orley’s damaged heart.

Orley Vincent’s heart is full of fear, leaving no space for love. Until a big, brash, brawler of a man forces his way in and makes her realize facing her fears is the only way she can ever be free.

From the start, Orley was groomed to believe she wasn’t good enough.

She wasn’t the perfect daughter. Or student. Or girlfriend.

But, she has always been the best mother she could be to her daughter, Noble.

Keeping Noble safe has always been the one thing she was determined to do, which ironically, is how she ended up on the wrong side of the tracks, living next door to an unlikely hero. Orley’s a woman on the run. She had no idea her frantic sprint was going to land her in the tattooed arms of a man ready to teach her how to fight for herself… and for love.

DOWNFALL is now available in KU!

EXCERPT:

~SOLO~

“I’m not anyone’s savior, Orley. Don’t get that confused.

She sighed again and pushed herself up off the floor. “I’m not confused. I’m incredibly lucky.” She sounded like she felt anything but lucky. “I want to do something nice for you. I have limited options, but if you want to come next door for dinner one night, Noble and I would love to have you.” She waved a hand around my kitchen, “I may have noticed you don’t keep much of anything edible on hand when I was looking for the coffee.”

Guiltily, I glanced at the abandoned bag of tater tots on the couch. “I’m on the go a lot. I usually just grab something I can eat on the run. Plus, I can’t cook.” My mom was a great cook, though, or she had been at one point. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had a home-cooked meal. “Do you cook?” She was so young, it was hard to picture her slaving over a hot stove on the regular.

Orley nodded. “Sure. I mostly throw stuff together geared to the palate of a toddler, but I’m sure I can figure out something adult appropriate for one night. I really owe you more than I can ever repay. Being a good neighbor is the least I can do.”

I did a mental rundown of my week trying to find a hole where I could fit her in. Not for the first time a wave of exhaustion washed over me when I realized how every hour of my days were packed. It shouldn’t be nearly impossible to eke out a night for something as easy as dinner. Finally deciding I was just going to have to skip a training session or get up even earlier to work on school work, I told Orley I would be over on Wednesday night.

She nodded at me and took a step forward. I went to move out of the way so she could get out of the small space without feeling crowded, but she caught me completely off guard when she walked right up to me and wrapped her arms around my waist. I felt her soft breath against the base of my throat and her soft hair brush against the bottom of my chin. I reflexively put an arm around her shoulders and returned her embrace. If she tilted her head back just a little, there wasn’t enough self-control in the world for me to keep my mouth off of hers. I would kiss the shit out of her, even though I knew it was the last thing she needed.

“I’ve never had anyone like you in my life, Solo. You terrify me.” She hugged me hard enough I had to bite my tongue to keep the yelp of pain from my jacked-up ribs at bay.

“That street goes both ways, Orley. I’ve never met anyone like you either.” I never thought I would to be honest.

She let me go and took a deep breath. She was halfway across the room when I realized something. “Hey, what about you. You never told me your last name.”

She stopped by the door, her back to me. For a minute I thought she didn’t hear me, but then she pulled the door open and called softly, “I’ll see you on Wednesday night.”

She slipped out the door without another word, leaving me with one more piece of a puzzle I was determined to put together. Figuring out my pretty neighbor was going to have to wait. I still needed to shower and drive out to see my mom. My obligations were never-ending and usually I liked being busy enough I didn’t have to think about much of anything. Lately, I found myself resenting every minute that took my attention away from the mysterious redhead I couldn’t stop thinking about.

 REVIEW:

So I have never read a Jay Crownover book before. And I have to admit that I cannot wait to read more from her! I loved the romance! And I loved the characters! I honestly could not put this down I didn’t want to stop reading it! My friend loves to read Jay Crownover and she really loves her books so I decided that it’s now time for me to give her a chance and I am so glad I did!

I really enjoyed this book and what it brought forward with the characters and the romance of this story. This novel was really a great example of life giving you what you need when you need it. I loved all the elements of their romance and their transitions of their romance throughout the story. Nothing felt rushed, nothing seemed like it was wrong or anything. I totally enjoyed the flow of their love story. And adding a child to this love story was so sweet and amazing. I thought this was so amazing. I really liked Solo as his ow character. He was a good guy with a great head on his shoulders. And Orley was so sweet with her daughter! They were so cute and I liked their relationship. Also Noble’s relationship with Solo was sweet. I loved the relationships.

I heard from a friend who has read way more of Jay’s work that there were other characters from her other novels and I didn’t really notice but I hope with more reading of Jays novels that I will be able to pick them out again! Overall I loved this novel and everything about it and I absolutely cannot believe it took me so long to read her novels. If you’re looking for a fun, sweet, good romance, I highly suggest/recommend you pick this up and read it!

Currently Reading

Hey everyone! I’m here to talk about what I read so far this week and what I want to read this coming weekend!

So I binge read an entire series this week and I am now obsessed. I started reading the Gold Seeker trilogy by Rae Carson and yesterday night I finished the final book in the trilogy and this series was so good! Stay tuned for my review! I plan on posting that soon!

The Gold Seer Trilogy - Rae Carson

And that’s all I read this week. But I am still making progress with two other books. I hope this weekend will be the weekend where I finish a bunch of my books. I think this weekend will be a focus on my physical and ebooks that I have been neglecting for audiobooks. And another reason is because in April I am doing the Owl’s Magical Readathon by The Book Roast on YouTube. I am not a real big fan of Harry Potter but I thought the readathon was so cool and decided to join in! I’ll be posting that TBR in the next day or two. So here are the two books I want to make the effort to finish this weekend:

So Wicked Saints is a book I am making a priority this weekend.

And then The Meaning of Birds is another book I want to read.

I’m not making any more reading plans because I’m not sure what I am in the mood for and such. I might finish these and then start another book and maybe start another audiobook. But yeah again not making plans on here since I’m not sure what audiobook I’ll have by then.

But yeah that’s my wrap up and TBR and what I am currently reading. Plus I’m leaving on vacation to Vegas so yeah I have to kind of start packing, gunna spend time with Leia and my family since they’re staying here while I’m leaving.

So yeah have a great weekend and let me know what you’re currently reading down below!

Exclusive Excerpt:

“What are you wearing under this dress?” he asked, his mouth brushing hers, the words whisper-soft.

Not what she expected him to say. “E-excuse me?”

His teeth sank into her lower lip, making her yelp. “Focus.”

On what? The demon club? The humans dying downstairs? The fact that you’re a fucking vampire? Where should I begin?

He sighed, his forehead falling to hers. “Astasiya, we have very little time to sort this before the Conclave. I need you to work with me. Both our lives depend on it. What are you wearing?”

She cleared her throat, her hold on his neck tightening as if needing his support to respond. And maybe she did. This was all a lot to take in. “A, uh, thong,” she managed to say. “And a strapless bra.” Both black and lacy, but she didn’t add that part.

One of his hands drifted from her hair to her waist, then down to her ass. His palm flattened and forced her to arch up into him. A breath hitched in her throat at the feel of his growing arousal.

He’s turned on… here… now?

She trembled, the heat of his body seeping into her cool skin, warming her blood. They were standing rather close. And he smelled amazing, as always.

Anywhere else, in the dark, she’d have kissed him.

But here…

“The dress will have to stay, then,” he said, the disappointment evident in his voice.

She frowned. “What’s wrong with my dress?” It hit her midthigh and clung to her curves. She looked good in it.

He ignored her, his mouth brushing hers in a chaste kiss as his hips pressed firmly into hers.

Definitely aroused.

“You’re going to see things tonight that will make you want to scream, but you must remain calm and quiet. Mortals who overreact die, and they die badly.”

Dead and Gone Blog Tour Stop

Hello everyone! I am here with my Dead and Gone Blog Tour Stop which is an Excerpt Stop! Hope you enjoy and consider checking this awesome novel out!

DAGSLAP

As it turned out, we had allegedly agreed that I wouldn’t go on any more capers with my friend Daisy, the retired hooker, and our grandmothers. Sophia was out; she was at some big, fancy figure-skating competition in Chicago.

I still agreed. Because, what kind of trouble could two widowed senior citizens, a retired hooker, and an obituaries columnist for the local paper get into? I mean, really. Lightning doesn’t strike twice. It doesn’t, right?

DAGdrunk

“And Trent and I had worked out some kinks. He yelled less. I pretended to listen more. And when I didn’t, he used his handsome mouth in better ways than yelling, if you catch my drift. We were officially in the love bubble. The honeymoon stage. I wasn’t ready to rock the boat for just anything all willy-nilly.

DAGStuck

“But Daisy, my sweet, fabulous, eccentrically dressed best friend, had a problem. Several of her . . . um . . . colleagues from the old days were missing. Like, really missing, not shacked up with a john. And she was worried. Yes, Daisy had a problem and she came to me for help . . . advice . . . I don’t really know what. All I know is that that led me to today, as I sit, handcuffed to the pipes of a bathroom sink in a filthy motel just this side of Mexico, dressed like a cheap hooker. Yep, I’m in trouble, folks. Just like I said . . . Dead. Meat. My name is Shelby Whitmore, Funeral and Obituaries columnist for the San Diego Metro News and most likely to be single again if I survive this shit. I guess I should start at the beginning”

Hey everyone! I’m so sorry I haven’t been posting. I was in a really bad place anxiety wise and also just lost a lot of confidence in myself and I just wasn’t about to focus on anything.

Im back though! I’m happy about that! I havent read a lot since I’ve been too anxious to focus much but now that I’m feeling so much better I’ve been able to really get in the reading mood! I’m happy! I’m on the up and up!

Anyways so far this week I’ve read:

and I gave them both 5/5 stars! I really enjoyed them both! Like a lot! Dance of Thieves I wasn’t surprised about since Mary E Pearson is one of my favorite authors, but I was surprised with Serious Moonlight! I loved it! I loved it so much! Daniel was bae! I adore him! More about that in my review coming soon!

So here’s what I am currently reading:

I’m reading The Meaning of Birds physically, The White Rose on audiobook, and then Wicked Saints on eBook.

And then I have one or two books I plan on reading once I finish those books:

And those are my reading plans! And what I read already!

It’s a bit much but I am having a friend over this weekend for a reading party so I’m excited to read with her! It’ll be great!

What are you reading currently? What are your reading plans? I’d love to know!

As a hitman for hire, Percivale is no stranger to violence.
From the moment he saw Blossom Jaymes through the window of her bakery, he knew he was in too deep. Not only was she as sweet as her perfectly crafted treats, but she was a soft-spoken, golden-haired angel that shone like a bright beacon in his dark world. And Percivale didn’t deal in angels. He dealt in death and crime. The even bigger issue? Percivale’s next hit is on said sweet little baker who doesn’t seem to realize how much danger lurks around her with each passing day.
If he doesn’t get the job done, who will?

When Percivale has to decide what’s more important to him—the life of a woman who may very well be innocent or getting his revenge on the men who murdered his family—the lines become blurred. Morals are twisted and a deathly chase ensues that can only result in one thing—Blossom buried six feet under.
Or can it?
Can Percivale let his lust for revenge go in order to save Blossom from the bounty on her head, or will the power she unknowingly holds over him be what gets her killed?

Presley McDaniel lives her life from moment to moment.

Making permanent decisions means obligation, and that would force her to stop being the family disappointment. Waitress, fitness instructor, dog walker … you name the hourly job and she’s probably held the position.

But when her grandmother can no longer run her book shop in Fawn Hill, a town so small it barely has its own zip code, Presley steps up to help.

The move from bustling city to green pastures may be exactly what she needs to sort out her life. But she didn’t ask for that happy ending to include a gorgeous veterinarian with an all-American smile and a penchant for snuggling puppies. The good doctor is reliable, responsible, and just the kind of man Presley has always avoided.

Love and commitment are predictable.

So why, the moment she lays eyes on him, are they all she wants?

Keaton Nash has never questioned his steady path.

His brothers may tease him about settling into his father’s passed-down role of small town veterinarian, but Keaton has never minded his rural roots. And after tragedy struck two years ago, he has a duty as the eldest Nash man to look after his family.

What he doesn’t need is the sexy, flighty stranger who shows up in town and gets his broken heart beating again. Presley McDaniel is a distraction, a red-headed temptation that is the definition of a bad idea.

He’s barely recovered from the love who left him to chase bigger dreams, and this woman is bound to do the same.

Except for the first time ever, he wants to abandon stability.

She makes him want to be reckless.
