The Bookish Box: January

Hello! I’m here to talk about my January Bookish Box! I know I said that I was planning on cutting down on it but I wanted to get the full box for February but I rechanged by Subscription too early so I also ended up paying for the full version of January. So once February is shipped I was change it back to just the shirt!

Anyways here is my unboxing for January!

The theme for January was Galactic Adventures so it has some space themed items. I thought I knew what the book for this month would be but I apparently didn’t because I was surprised.

I got this magnet with the theme of Firefly and it was designed by the Bookish Shop for this box. I haven’t seen Firefly before but it might be something I’m interested in so we’ll have to see what I think. This magnet is really pretty!

The next items is this bookmark for Star Wars, this Zenith print, and the monthly doodle. I want to color this in so I think I will! It’s so pretty!

And this bag is so stunning! It’s a cute tote bag to add to my collection because I love them, but also this is from Evie Seo who is one of my favorite artists! I always love her work! This design is based on the Lunar Chronicles.

Here’s the link to her Society6 account: Society6

And this is the shirt that was included! It’s a Star Wars shirt which is awesome! I love Star Wars so much! I’m going to wear this all the time! It’s amazing! It was designed by the Bookish Shop.

We also got this really cute Calendar kit. It has two months included and you set it up like an art easel. January was designed by Stella’s Bookish Art, and February was designed by Hey Atlas Creative.

Stella: Society6

Hey Atlas: Hey Atlas Creative

And here is this stunning necklace! I’m not sure who designed it or anything but it’s so stunning and I really plan to wear it all the time! It just looks amazing!

And the book this month is Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings. I have heard many mixed things about this book. Mainly bad things about it. So I’m really going to go in this with not that great expectations so I hope they break them and make me really like this book.

Summary: Most know Androma Racella as the Bloody Baroness, a powerful mercenary whose reign of terror stretches across the Mirabel Galaxy. To those aboard her glass starship, Marauder, however, she’s just Andi, their friend and fearless leader.

But when a routine mission goes awry, the Marauder’s all-girl crew is tested as they find themselves in a treacherous situation and at the mercy of a sadistic bounty hunter from Andi’s past.

Meanwhile, across the galaxy, a ruthless ruler waits in the shadows of the planet Xen Ptera, biding her time to exact revenge for the destruction of her people. The pieces of her deadly plan are about to fall into place, unleashing a plot that will tear Mirabel in two.

Andi and her crew embark on a dangerous, soul-testing journey that could restore order to their shipor just as easily start a war that will devour worlds. As the Marauder hurtles toward the unknown, and Mirabel hangs in the balance, the only certainty is that in a galaxy run on lies and illusion, no one can be trusted.

And here is the spoiler card for this month incase you’re interested in it!

Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

Book of the Month Unboxing: January

Hello! Here is my Book of the Month book for January! For those that don’t know, you get to pick your book for each month and they’re adult books! Each month you can pick one book, and add another book for a discounted price!

This month I just got one book and I’m here to talk about it!

So the book I got this month is The Woman in the Window by A J Finn and it seems like everyone is raving about this book! I have heard really amazing things about this and I can’t wait to read it soon! I really do plan to get to it asap!

Summary: Anna Fox lives alone, a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times–and spying on her neighbors.

Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, and their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.

What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.

Here is the cute little design under the dust jacket! I always like seeing these, I think they’re super creative to do that for each month!

Bookish Box Unboxing: December

Hello! I’m here with my December Bookish Box Unboxing. This box wasn’t really interesting to me and I was putting my subscription as only t-shirt and for January I believe it is, but for February I moved it back because I wanted the items for that box based on what they mentioned on their instagram. But yeah once that’s done I’ll be going back to just the t-shirt for month to month.

I’d prefer to just like focus on other subscriptions I currently have.

* I had to get images off google images because I deleted all my images off my WordPress drive and also my phone so yeah….*

This box was themed Destined and I really didn’t care for much of the items or the book, but I liked an item or two in this month!

I got this cute ornament that has book titles on it, and I thought it was really cute to add to my little collection! It was created by Hello World Paper Co on Etsy and I like the modern novels paired with classic novels. Thought it added a nice touch! Etsy: Hello World Paper Co

Of course my favorite item in this box was the Aelin Fireheart mug with one of my favorite fae on there! I have this in my collection of mugs so I’m super happy to have it! I love her world, and I hope they one day use her High Lady of the Night Court design on a mug so they match! Site link here: The Watercolorie

We also got the shirt, which is an added item in each box they send out. I always get it because they have cool designs for shirts. I’m not a Harry Potter fan honestly but I like the idea of this shirt. I got the image off of: My Subscription Addiction

And then we also got this Harry Potter candle which actually smells really good so I may actually burn this candle! I’ve never burned their candles before so I’ll need to look up if you can burn the candle with the little gold flakes on top because I don’t want to mess something up…..anyways here is the link to the shop: Whiskey Diamond Co

And the image is also off of: Hello Subscription

We also have this month’s prints with the Monthly doodle drawn by Doodles by Christina and the Mother of Dragons doodle by Dani Marie Draws Instagram

And this month’s book I have no idea what it is about so here’s the summary for you! Let me know if it’s something you would be interested in reading. I have never heard of this book so I can’t tell you if I plan to or not in the future…Let me know if you have so maybe I can make an informed decision!

Summary: The house on Arrow Island is full of mystery.

Yet when Mei arrives, she can’t help feeling relieved. She’s happy to spend the summer in an actual mansion tutoring a rich man’s daughter if it means a break from her normal life—her needy mother, her delinquent brother, their tiny apartment in the city. And Ella Morison seems like an easy charge, sweet and well behaved.

What Mei doesn’t know is that something is very wrong in the Morison household.

Though she tries to focus on her duties, Mei becomes increasingly distracted by the family’s problems and her own complicated feelings for Ella’s brother, Henry. But most disturbing of all are the unexplained noises she hears at night—the howling and thumping and cries.

Mei is a sensible girl. She isn’t superstitious; she doesn’t believe in ghosts. Yet she can’t shake her fear that there is danger lurking in the shadows of this beautiful house, a darkness that could destroy the family inside and out… and Mei along with them.

Here is the spoiler card for you! Also from: My Subscription Addiction

And that was my unboxing for December. I hope you enjoyed and I’ll see you soon with my future unboxing for January! Let me know your thoughts below as I would love to know your thoughts!

Illumicrate Unboxing

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a Happy New Year Eve and Day!

I’m here to show you my November Illumicrate unboxing! I ended up getting it a bit late and got it towards the end of December so I haven’t had much of a chance to do a post about it. But I think besides Owlcrate this is one of my favorite boxes I get each month!

So Illumicrate is a quarterly box and you pay for the box and you end up with two books in the box! Recently it’s been an ARC in the box and they send such beautiful editions!

Website link here: Illumicrate

The first item in this box is this really beautiful print from Nutmeg and Arlo on Easy! I really do like this quote and it really is true honestly! At least I think so! I love Nutmeg and Arlo’s stuff, they have really cute pins and prints and I always want to buy stuff from them but I always don’t because I tend to spend my money on books….but you should definitely check them out!

Link here: Nutmeg and Arlo

This item to me is kind of sad, because I love Meraki Candles and unfortunately they are shutting down. I only ever got the candles they included in the boxes because shipping from out of the country tends to be expensive, so sadly I never bought a candle from them which is something I regret but I wish them all the best in their next adventure!

They also included this sampler of This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada, I had the ARC but never got around to it sadly, but I do plan on reading it soon since I have the audiobook.

Summary: Catarina Agatta is a hacker. She can cripple mainframes and crash through firewalls, but that’s not what makes her special. In Cat’s world, people are implanted with technology to recode their DNA, allowing them to change their bodies in any way they want. And Cat happens to be a gene-hacking genius.

That’s no surprise, since Cat’s father is Dr. Lachlan Agatta, a legendary geneticist who may be the last hope for defeating a plague that has brought humanity to the brink of extinction. But during the outbreak, Lachlan was kidnapped by a shadowy organization called Cartaxus, leaving Cat to survive the last two years on her own.

When a Cartaxus soldier, Cole, arrives with news that her father has been killed, Cat’s instincts tell her it’s just another Cartaxus lie. But Cole also brings a message: before Lachlan died, he managed to create a vaccine, and Cole needs Cat’s help to release it and save the human race.

Now Cat must decide who she can trust: The soldier with secrets of his own? The father who made her promise to hide from Cartaxus at all costs? In a world where nature itself can be rewritten, how much can she even trust herself?

I also got this 2018 journal which is super cute! I love it so much! It’s a weekly journal and I plan on using it to plan for blogging and work! Super excited to use it! The website will be linked below so I highly recommend checking out her etsy page, there is a lot of really awesome items for sale!

Link: Prism of Starling

The next item is a really stunning moon necklace from Oh Panda Eyes on etsy! I have a few items I saw that I want to purchase but it will have to wait for when they are back on etsy as they are currently taking a short break! I’ll leave the link below and you all should go check when they are back open because they have really pretty items!

Link: Oh Panda Eyes

And then this really cute tea towel is really cute! I love it! I still have no idea what a tea towel is so if anyone can tell me what that is I’d really appreciate it! Because I have no idea! Is it like a hand towel???

Anyways this tea towel is designed by Evannave so I’ll link her Link Tree for you to check her out!

Link: Evannave Link Tree

So I got this sampler of Iron Gold by Pierce Brown and I can’t really read this since I haven’t read the Red Rising books by him so I need to do that before starting Iron Gold.

I’ll leave a summary even though it’s a continuation of the Red Rising Trilogy

Summary: A decade ago, Darrow was the hero of the revolution he believed would break the chains of the Society. But the Rising has shattered everything: Instead of peace and freedom, it has brought endless war. Now he must risk everything he has fought for on one last desperate mission. Darrow still believes he can save everyone, but can he save himself?

And throughout the worlds, other destinies entwine with Darrow’s to change his fate forever:

A young Red girl flees tragedy in her refugee camp and achieves for herself a new life she could never have imagined.

An ex-soldier broken by grief is forced to steal the most valuable thing in the galaxy—or pay with his life.

And Lysander au Lune, the heir in exile to the sovereign, wanders the stars with his mentor, Cassius, haunted by the loss of the world that Darrow transformed, and dreaming of what will rise from its ashes.

Red Rising was the story of the end of one universe, and Iron Goldis the story of the creation of a new one. Witness the beginning of a stunning new saga of tragedy and triumph from masterly New York Times bestselling author Pierce Brown

I also got this stunning edition of City of Brass by S A Chakraborty. I had read a good chunk of this before and I ended up putting it down but this edition really makes me want to go and check it out again so maybe I’ll pick it up again and try to finish it. This cover is just so stunning! I love it!

Summary: Step into The City of Brass, the spellbinding debut from S. A. Chakraborty—an imaginative alchemy of The Golem and the Jinni, The Grace of Kings, and One Thousand and One Nights, in which the future of a magical Middle Eastern kingdom rests in the hands of a clever and defiant young con artist with miraculous healing gifts

Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trade she uses to get by—palm readings, zars, healings—are all tricks, sleights of hand, learned skills; a means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles.

But when Nahri accidentally summons an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to accept that the magical world she thought only existed in childhood stories is real. For the warrior tells her a new tale: across hot, windswept sands teeming with creatures of fire, and rivers where the mythical marid sleep; past ruins of once-magnificent human metropolises, and mountains where the circling hawks are not what they seem, lies Daevabad, the legendary city of brass?a city to which Nahri is irrevocably bound.

In that city, behind gilded brass walls laced with enchantments, behind the six gates of the six djinn tribes, old resentments are simmering. And when Nahri decides to enter this world, she learns that true power is fierce and brutal. That magic cannot shield her from the dangerous web of court politics. That even the cleverest of schemes can have deadly consequences.

After all, there is a reason they say be careful what you wish for . . .

And the book in the box is Artemis by Andy Weir! I have never read The Martian by him but this one sounds really interesting! Plus this cover is really cool and it has black splayed edges which I love! So happy to add this to my collection!

Summary: Jazz Bashara is a criminal.

Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you’re not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you’ve got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent.

Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of Jazz’s problems, as she learns that she’s stepped square into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself – and that now, her only chance at survival lies in a gambit even more unlikely than the first.

It also came with this travel brochure and this bookmark for Artemis as well and I think they’re super neat!

Here’s the Packing List for you incase you’re interested!

And that is my newest unboxing for you all! I hope you all enjoyed it and let me know your thoughts as I would love to know! This month I have quite a few book boxes I bought and I can’t wait for them to come in! I’m super excited for them all! Can’t wait for you all to see them!

Owlcrate Unboxing- December

Hello! I’m here with my Owlcrate unboxing for you all! This box was themed Seize the Day and I love this image they used for the box! It’s stunning!! Plus it has a dog on it! I’m here for it!

So the first thing I got in my box was this really pretty magnet from Ink and Wonder Designs! I love their work so much and was really excited this was in my box! I’ve honestly never read any of Rick’s books but I like this design and the quote so I’m fine with it!

Website link here: Ink and Wonder

I also got this Harry Potter tote bag from Bookworm Boutique which is really cute! Again I’m not really a Harry Potter fan but I do like the design and think it’s really cute!

Shop link here: Society6

I also got a candle from Novelly Yours! I have like a one or two other candles from them but I could always use more! One day I’ll burn all the little samples I have from boxes because I have no room for anymore! This candle comes from The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord, which again I haven’t read but it smells so good!

Website link here: Novelly Yours

And here’s the button that came in this box that has the theme of the box on it! I have quite a few of these now and I love them!

I also got a really cute planner/reading journal for 2018! I love using reading journals and since this one is also a planner I really think I’ll be using it a lot this year! I’m really excited and I want to start using it right away and prepping it for school and my reading plans!

I couldn’t find the main website for this designer but I found their instagram: Blue Star Press

This next item is a wooden ornament with a design from Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. It was made by Juniper and Ivy designs and it’s really pretty! I can’t remember if I got an item from them before. I think I did and it might have been from Owlcrate as well. I can’t remember anymore! But isn’t it so pretty!!

Website link: Juniper and Ivy Designs

So this bookmark that I have one side pictured is apparently a double sided bookmark that I didn’t realize even though I looked at both sides…I’m lame! But this side has a quote from the Serpant King and the other side has a quote from Perks of Being a Wildfire. This is made by Little Inklings Designs and I am actually going to place an order  in a few minutes because I love their stuff! I have like the set of 10 bookmarks and the set of 3 bookmarks in my cart! Definitely recommend checking them out!

Website link here: Etsy Shop

The book for this box was Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills. I have never read a book by her (no surprise) but this one sounds really interesting to me more than her other books so here’s hoping that I get to it sooner!

Summary: A contemporary novel about a girl whose high school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream leads her to new friends—and maybe even new love.

The day of the last party of the summer, Claudia overhears a conversation she wasn’t supposed to. Now on the wrong side of one of the meanest girls in school, Claudia doesn’t know what to expect when the two are paired up to write a paper—let alone when they’re both forced to try out for the school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

But mandatory participation has its upsides—namely, an unexpected friendship, a boy band obsession, and a guy with the best dimpled smile Claudia’s ever seen. As Claudia’s world starts to expand, she finds that maybe there are some things worth sticking her neck out for.

Let me know your thoughts on this book or her others if you’ve read them!

Included with the book we got the signed book plate, the letter from the author, and this really cute patch!

And they have the Owlcrate newsletter thing that they included in the boxes recently which has an interview with the author and information about the items in the boxes.

And here is the spoiler card for you all!

And that is my unboxing for this month’s Owlcrate! I really hope you enjoyed and let me know your thoughts down below as I would really love to know!

Book of the Month Club-December

Hello! So I’m here with my Book of the Month Club box! I started doing it because it’s not that expensive and some of the books sound really interesting! So I figured I would start doing this! I have way too many boxes but I decided to get this anyways.

Link here: Book of the Month

It’s this subscription service you you’re given the options of what book you want to get in the box and I chose one and added another book to it because I really wanted to read it and since it’s cheaper I picked it up as well and added it to my box.

So here’s what it looks like when you open the box! It’s nice and simple! I like it! It comes with a sticker sheet and a bookmark that you see in blue on the top.

Here’s the sticker sheet!

So the book that I chose for the month of December is The English Wife by Lauren Willig. I haven’t heard of it before but I read the summary on the website and I thought it sounded really interesting so I choose this one for this month! The cover is really pretty!

Summary: From the New York Times bestselling author, Lauren Willig, comes this scandalous New York Gilded Age novel full of family secrets, affairs, and even murder.

Annabelle and Bayard Van Duyvil live a charmed life: he’s the scion of an old Knickerbocker family, she grew up in a Tudor manor in England, they had a whirlwind romance in London, they have three year old twins on whom they dote, and he’s recreated her family home on the banks of the Hudson and renamed it Illyria. Yes, there are rumors that she’s having an affair with the architect, but rumors are rumors and people will gossip. But then Bayard is found dead with a knife in his chest on the night of their Twelfth Night Ball, Annabelle goes missing, presumed drowned, and the papers go mad. Bay’s sister, Janie, forms an unlikely alliance with a reporter to uncover the truth, convinced that Bay would never have killed his wife, that it must be a third party, but the more she learns about her brother and his wife, the more everything she thought she knew about them starts to unravel. Who were her brother and his wife, really? And why did her brother die with the name George on his lips?

I like that they have the month and year as well as the Book of the Month logo! I think that adds such character to the book!

Lastly I got Final Girls by Riley Sager. I heard a lot about this book and I really liked what I read about in the summary and this sounds really interesting to me! I like the UK cover I’ll insert a picture here: 30215662

Summary: Ten years ago, college student Quincy Carpenter went on vacation with five friends and came back alone, the only survivor of a horror movie–scale massacre. In an instant, she became a member of a club no one wants to belong to—a group of similar survivors known in the press as the Final Girls. Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout’s knife; Sam, who went up against the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape Pine Cottage and the man she refers to only as Him. The three girls are all attempting to put their nightmares behind them, and, with that, one another. Despite the media’s attempts, they never meet.
Now, Quincy is doing well—maybe even great, thanks to her Xanax prescription. She has a caring almost-fiancé, Jeff; a popular baking blog; a beautiful apartment; and a therapeutic presence in Coop, the police officer who saved her life all those years ago. Her memory won’t even allow her to recall the events of that night; the past is in the past.
That is, until Lisa, the first Final Girl, is found dead in her bathtub, wrists slit, and Sam, the second, appears on Quincy’s doorstep. Blowing through Quincy’s life like a whirlwind, Sam seems intent on making Quincy relive the past, with increasingly dire consequences, all of which makes Quincy question why Sam is really seeking her out. And when new details about Lisa’s death come to light, Quincy’s life becomes a race against time as she tries to unravel Sam’s truths from her lies, evade the police and hungry reporters, and, most crucially, remember what really happened at Pine Cottage, before what was started ten years ago is finished.

Doesn’t it sound so good!? I’m super excited to check it out!

And here’s the impression from under the dust jacket and this book was one of the options from July this year!

I can’t wait to see what books I will choose next! I really want to start these soon! I’m in the mood for a good thriller! I don’t know when I can choose January’s book so I plan on looking that up soon so I can start picking because I’m excited!

The Bookish Box Unboxing- November

Hey everyone! I’m here with my Bookish Box Unboxing! I’m actually a bit confused because when I received my box in the mail it wasn’t a box, it was in a bubble mailer instead. I don’t know if they ran out of boxes or what but yeah I had this going on and I hope that doesn’t continue.

Anyways the theme for this month was Babes and Betrayal so lets get on into it!

The first thing I got was this beautiful necklace with a quote from Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. I really love the calligraphy and the way it’s contrasted on this necklace! It’s so beautiful! I have read Pride & Prejudice for school so I plan on rereading it again and see if I like it better outta class!

We also got these cute buttons. I haven’t read The Mara Dyer trilogy so the Noah Shaw pin is right over my head, but I like the Bookish Babe pin! It’s super cute!

Here’s a doodle of the theme for the box by Christina, I’m assuming from The Bookish Box. There wasn’t a listed company or anything for her so I just assumed she’s with The Bookish Shop. But it’s super pretty!

Also included is this print from Caraval! It’s stunning!! Caraval is one of my all time favorite books so I love this print so much!! It’s so interesting and pretty! It’s done by Po Jainter and I love her work so much so I’m glad that they sent this in the box. Link here: Tumblr

I also got this really cool Book Beau! I have like 4 of their sleeves so this is definitely going into my collection! I love it! I carry one with me everywhere so I’m glad I have another for my books! Shop link here: Book Beau

Here is the shirt that was included for this month! It’s super pretty and I love it! Their shirts are the best and I wear them all the time! Again the quote is over my head since I haven’t read the Mara Dyer trilogy but hopefully when I read it it’ll make more sense to me!

Lastly is the book for this month! It’s Bad Girls with Perfect Faces by Lynn Weingarten. I haven’t read a book by her yet so let’s hope this one changes that!

This cover is really pretty too! I love the colors!

Summary: When I looked up, his smile was wide and real. “Ready?” he said.
I faked a smile back. I had gotten so good at faking things.
I thought: You brought this on yourself, Sasha. You will have to pretend forever now.
He squeezed my hand again. He couldn’t begin to imagine what this actually was. He had no idea what I’d done. What any of us had.

When Sasha’s best friend Xavier gets back together with his cheating ex, Ivy, Sasha knows she needs to protect him. So she poses as a guy online to lure Ivy away.

But Sasha’s plan goes sickeningly wrong. And she soon learns to be careful of who you pretend to be because you might be surprised by who you become…

Told in multiple points of view, Bad Girls with Perfect Faces is sexy and twisted with shocks at every turn.

Here’s the spoiler card

This cover is an exclusive Owlcrate copy and I can’t wait to add it to my collection! It’s stunning! I am super excited to read it and see if the inside matches the beauty of the outside! I’ll leave the summary for the book below:

For nearly a century, the Nomeolvides women have tended the grounds of La Pradera, the lush estate gardens that enchant guests from around the world. They’ve also hidden a tragic legacy: if they fall in love too deeply, their lovers vanish. But then, after generations of vanishings, a strange boy appears in the gardens.

The boy is a mystery to Estrella, the Nomeolvides girl who finds him, and to her family, but he’s even more a mystery to himself; he knows nothing more about who he is or where he came from than his first name. As Estrella tries to help Fel piece together his unknown past, La Pradera leads them to secrets as dangerous as they are magical in this stunning exploration of love, loss, and family.

We also got a signed bookplate, a letter from the author, and also some seeds! Maybe I’ll plant them in my backyard! I’ll let you know if I do in the future!
